ITEM TITLE: Swearing in of Yakima Police Department "Chief for a Day" Esteban
Cruz

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission coordinates the Chief for a Day bi-
annual event. Chief for a Day allows police departments throughout the state to sponsor a child
with a chronic illness and help them focus on their dreams instead of their illnesses. The Yakima
Police Department is proud to sponsor Esteban Cruz as its 2016 Chief for a Day. Department
members will have the opportunity to interact with Esteban and his family throughout the year. On
August 18, 2016, Esteban will be sworn in with the other "Little Chiefs" throughout the state at the
Criminal Justice Training Commission.
