R- 2016 -041 A RESOLUTION fixing the time and place of a hearing for April 19, 2016 at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall to amend the 2016 through 2021 Six - Year Transportation Improvement Program. WHEREAS, the City of Yakima annually prepares, reviews and adopts a Six -Year Transportation Improvement Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima for the ensuing six year period, all as contemplated and required by State and Federal law, and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has identified a need to amend the current Six Year Transportation Improvement Program for the construction of streets and arterial streets in the City of Yakima; and WHEREAS, a public hearing must be held on said amended program before final approval, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: That said amended program shall be presented for hearing and determination on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at 6 30 PM on said day, in the Council Chambers of the City of Yakima, at Yakima City Hall, Yakima, Washington, or as soon thereafter as the same may be heard, and that notice of such hearing be given as approved by law ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 5th day of April, 2046. For Meeting of: April 5, 2016 ITEM TITLE: Resolution setting the date for a public hearing to be held at 6:30 pm on April 19, 2016 in the City of Yakima Council Chambers to amend the six -year Transportation Improvement Program SUBMITTED BY: Brett Sheffield, PE, Chief Engineer 509.575.6797 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: This action would set April 19, 2016 as the date fora public hearing to amend the Local Six -year Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Please see attached letter from the William O. Douglas Trail Foundation recommending your approval of this action. This amendment will add Cowiche Canyon Trail project to the Local 2016 - 2021 TIP. Once the project is included in the Local TIP, it can then be amended to the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). There is $200,000 of State funding scheduled for the design of this project in the 2015 - 2017 biennium. In order for these funds to be made available, the project must be included on the STI P.
