This MOU is between the City of Yakima and Yakima Fire Fighters Local 469,
International Association of Fire Fighters.
The parties are operating under a signed collective bargaining agreement that extends
until December 31, 2006.
The City has opted to send teams to the recovery efforts in the gulf coast Katrina disaster.
The parties agree to, and understand fully, the following stipulations so that the teams
may be sent to assist in the disaster recovery efforts. These efforts are being done under
the control of FEMA.
1. The team members will continue to receive their salary from the City of
Yakima.
2. The team leaders will make sure that all hours worked are recorded and
verified by a FEMA timekeeper. Hours shall be the time that the members
work for FEMA and shall not include any hours that they our not on duty.
3. Team members will be removed from the normal 24 -hour shift work of the
Yakima Fire Department.
4. Any hours over the contractual limit of 203.68 hours in a 30 -day period will
be paid to the personnel at time and one half.
5. The 30 -day period shall begin when the teams leave Yakima for the gulf area.
6. The Chief shall have the option to reimburse the team members for any
expense that should be deemed incidental.
7. The team members shall continue to be covered by all others aspects of the
CBA. (i.e. medical, sick time and leave time accrual, etc.)
8. All leave time that the team members have signed for during their absence
shall be cancelled, and opened to other members of the department.
9. Upon team members return this MOU will terminate and not establish
precedent now or in the future.
