P1ROCLA.WA tIOW P3FEREAS, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) was formed as the Washington .Ifigh Schoo(Ath(eticAssociation in the early 1900s and became the WIAA on Jury 1, 1958; and WIPEREAS, the WIAA e.xiists to assist member school's in operating student programs that foster achievement, respect, equity, enthusiasm and eve((ence in a safe and organized environment; and WIPEREAS, the WIAA began hording State Basket6a((Championships in 1923; and WIPEREAS, the WIAA wi((6e hording two 2016 State Basket6a((Championships in the Yakima valley SunDome; the 1A and 2,4 State Championships from [larch 3 — 5; and WIPEREAS, the WIAA added Dance and Drill as a sanctioned activity in 1990 and will be hording their 2016 Dance and Drill State Championships in the Yakima valley SunDome on March 25 and 26; and WIPEREAS, the WIAA stages the largest and most valuable sports tournaments in the Yakima valley; NOW WE12ETORE, I, Avina Gutierrez, Mayor of the City of Yakima and on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim the month of March 2016 as a WASJIWGTOW INTERS Cif0 LAS TIC ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION (WIAA .1VLOJ'Vrif" in the City of Yakima and encourage aCC citizens to show support by attending these events.
