Mary got me involved, then answered his questions. Essentially, he was confused about the definition of "Through the Fence" based on the fact that his facility was inside the Airport fence. Mary clarified that the. term pertained to someone having airfield access while operating on land not owned by the airport. Brad had no other questions, and the call was ended. I later received the attached letter. Russ, I need to provide a timely answer, since coordination of fence removal is in our interests as well as Brad's interests. We also need to respond to Brad's concerns regarding the power for the vehicle gate. Shall I prepare a draft response to be sent through you? . I have requested an FAA response to the previous Brad Goodspeed email where he makes some erroneous claims involving the FAA. I was promised that I would receive a draft for tomorrow (Wednesday). I recently received the attached e -mail from Mr. Goodspeed to the Council members. wanted to let you know in a brief message that City staff will be meeting with the airport manager, Board Chairman, the Board's attorney Russ•Gilbert and Lynn • Buchanan, next week to address the concerns raised by Lynn during the last Council meeting. Much of what Mr. Goodspeed states in the attached e -mail is directly related to this same situation and is being provided to the airport manager so he too is aware of it. The airport management is planning to provide the Council with a response to Mr. Buchanan's concerns and the status of the situation that is ongoing at the airport • during the July 20 C Council Meeting. I wanted you to be aware that we have received this information sent by Mr. Goodspeed and that you will be provided further information in this regard soon. Please let me know if you have further questions that I may be able to answer, but at this point several of the points raised by Mr. Goodspeed are subject to litigations between his company and the airport and may therefore be subject to attorney client protection. :That issue will be up to the airport Board and their attorney to determine. As you are probably being kept in the dark about what is going on at the airport. I will provide a complete book on both cases. You need to take control of your problem at the airport. What you have is broken and beyond being fixed. While.the airport is trying to unjustly enrich themselves, under the color of law, even the judge got that this is more than "just about money ". • • He is right, this is going to end very very badly for someone, and it will not be me. Look forward to a book with several hundred pages in each. It utilizes the airports own accounting. We either had a 400 credit balance on our rent or we owed 236.66 and that is surely. grounds to "throw the bastards out"., The interesting thing is M. A. West put up a 3,000.00 cash deposit account (trust account) that the airport could draw funds from at any time to pay rent if they were unhappy. They would then provide a 5 day notice to replenish. That is all they simply had to do. Oh yeah, we delivered 3,000 worth of checks on March 26, 2010. • They returned them as a "day too late" by their calculations. . • I hope the airport, city and county are treating all their other customers the same way. .1 would hate to think we have been singled out. . Perhaps you should call Mary Vargas at the FAA. They were under the impression the airport was trying to buy . the fee simple title to our property as agreed the end of January. The FAA had agreed to provide a grant in the amount of 2,000,000 and pay for a phase 2 due diligence. They were shocked to find out this is how a phase 2 is done. I guess the airport "reallocated" the grant funds. As most of you are aware, grants have little tiny strings attached. One of these is "fair business practices" I am not confrontational as some of your minions might say. I will do whatever I need to protect and recover my interest. I am really disappointed that is this kind of economy, that a public agency would engage in this kind of behavior. Once we start the conversion of the property to other commercial applications, there will be no turning back to aviation and Yakima will loose a valuable facility. A properly run airport is the gateway to your community and this is where the "check writers" first show up and leave when looking to expand. I am glad the airport is awash with cash and things are so good they can spend 30,000 to build a fence, put 7 people out of work and loose 45,000 a year in annual income. With the loss of the restaurant (I had a tenant for them a year ago), travel agent, sign shop, barber, reduced flights, plunging fuel sales flow fee, I guess I simply do not understand how "business" is done here. My suggestion, loose the airport board, take over the management of the airport yourselves with city staff and form a port district so you can get an economic engine for job creation. Yeah I have heard the fruit companies will kill it...1 think you need to revisit this concept. Minimum wage was 4.25 then and now it is almost 9.00. From a practical point of view, minimum wage is at market price and the effect on.he fruit companies are nil. • The best economy in the nation for the next 12 years is Yakima to Tri Cities and you need to capitalize on this for your community. You have allot to offer the outside world. You just need to clean up your image of gangs, both street and political in nature. Form a Port District, get a great business mind running it ( please no more political hacks or buddies of board members) and kick ass and take names. I have enjoyed people in the community. I rent a hanger to 6 Yakima PD so they can build their muscle cars. • They are great guys and now the airport wants them to move as well. They are singing the same old song...aviation only I guess no one told them it will be a recession in aviation for 8 -12 years. My door is always open to anyone with the courage to come visit. 7/14/2010 • R • Page 3 of 3 Have a great weekend, go spend lots of money in your community and deny the national trend!!!
