ITEM TITLE: Initiation of the Menzia Annexation

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima has received a Notice of Intent to Commence Annexation from Raymond
and Annette Menzia, owners of the 2.29 acre parcel proposed for annexation. This annexation
has an assessed value of $170,900. and two people are in residence Based upon its small
size and very limited population no additional police or fire personnel will be required to serve
this area.
At this time City Council is being asked to act upon this request and to approve the City's Standard
Motions A & B as they pertain to annexations.

COUNCIL ACTION: On September 5, 2007, the Council Economic Development Committee
0 met to review the this annexation and following discussion voted to recommend the intitiation of
this annexation to the Council.

Standard Motion "A" reads as follows:
"I move that today, March 4, 2008 be set as the time of a meeting with the initiating parties who
have signed a Notice of Intent to Commence Annexation Proceedings, the initiating parties
being as follows:
Raymond and Annette Menzia, et al
Standard Motion "B" reads as follows:
"I move that the annexation proposed by the above parties be accepted by the City of Yakima,
and that the area to be annexed be required to assume its share of the City's existing
indebtedness, and that a Notice of Intent to Annex be filed with the Yakima County Boundary
Review Board."

• NOTICE OF INTENTION TO COMMENCE ANNEXATION PROCEEDINGS
TO: The City Council
City of Yakima, Washington
Comes now the following:

and hereby notifies the City Council of the City of Yakima that he intends to
commence annexation proceedings to have the above referenced real property
annexed to the City of Yakima. That the above named, owner of the vacant
• property for which annexation will be petitioned, respectfully requests the City
Council to meet with its officers within 60 days to determine whether the City will
accept the proposed annexation.
This page is one of a number of identical pages forming one notice intended by

may be filed with other pages containing additional signatures which cumulatively
may be considered as a single notice.
