HomeMy WebLinkAbout03/04/2008 13 Surplus 1999 Cushman Three Wheel Turf Truckster - Transfer to Committee for Downtown Yakima BUSINESS OF THE CITY COUNCIL YAKIMA, WASHINGTON AGENDA STATEMENT Item No. l 3 For Meeting of: March 4, 2008 ITEM TITLE: A Resolution declaring surplus ER 5217, a 1999 Cushman three wheel Turf Truckster and transferring the vehicle to the Committee for Downtown Yakima (CDY) SUBMITTED BY: Chris Waarvick, Director of Public Works CONTACT PERSON/TELEPHONE: Richard Wonner, 576 -6412 Sue Ownby, Purchasing Manager, 576 -6695 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: This vehicle was purchased in 1999 with PBIA funds at the request of DARC (Downtown Area Redevelopment Committee) for city parks crews performing routine maintenance in the downtown area. The City of Yakima is currently the registered owner and has maintained the vehicle since being purchased. The Committee for Downtown Yakima (CDY) is now performing the downtown area maintenance under contract. Transfer of this vehicle from the City of Yakima to CDY is an appropriate housekeeping measure to relieve the City from potential maintenance and liability issues. The attached resolution provides for the transfer. COUNCIL ACTION: • _ • • RESOLUTION NO. R -2008- A RESOLUTION declaring surplus ER 5217, a 1999 Cushman three wheel Turf Truckster and transferring ownership of the vehicle to the Committee for Downtown Yakima (CDY). WHEREAS, the vehicle was originally purchased with PBIA funds by the Downtown Area Redevelopment Committee (DARC) for exclusive use in the downtown area for maintenance services; and WHEREAS, City Park crews no longer perform routine maintenance functions in the downtown area since the basic downtown maintenance services were transferred by agreement to the Committee for Downtown Yakima (CDY); and WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to transfer ownership and title of this vehicle to CDY as a responsible housekeeping measure to relieve the City from potential maintenance and insurance liability issues; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: • The City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized and directed to declare this vehicle (ER 5217) surplus to the needs of the City of Yakima and to transfer ownership of this vehicle to the Committee for Downtown Yakima (CDY), ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 4th day of March 2008.
