RE: Ralph Call Complaint- Parking Standards for Lawn Parking
Mr. Call inquired for standards pertaining to constructing lawn areas to be utilized for
parking. The ordinance at this time defines an "Improved Surface "as a surface covered
with gravel, cement, pavers, asphalt, brick or other material approved in writing by the
Director.
The City of Yakima has not set design standards in this ordinance. The design is for the
occupant to choose. This ordinance sets minimum standards and not design.
If councils prefers to add a design standard to the ordinance, staff can come back to
council with draft language to include standards in the ordinance in the form of an

amendment.
