RE: Gang Free Initiative Update
The events related to the Yakima Gang Free Initiative (GFI) project are provided as a
means to update you on our efforts to develop and implement the City of Yakima GFI
plan.
41) On June 16,2010, the members of the Public Safety Committee, City Manager Dick Zais,
Michael Morales, Chief Granato, Deputy Chief Rosenow and GFI Director Mike
Merryman met to review the applications submitted from persons interested in serving
on the GFI Steering Committee. Other individuals were also discussed and a
"brainstorming" session followed related to other potential Steering Committee
members.
•
The result of that meeting was that the Public Safety Committee members, at the July 6th
Council meeting, would _recommend the following individuals and positions for the
GFI Steering Committee.
