I received your letter of October 27, 2000 requesting additional representation on the
Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC).
The Nominating Committee of the Yakima City Council met in order to discuss your
request. After reviewing the request, it is the recommendation of the Nominating
Committee not to expand the LTAC at this time. This recommendation will be presented
to the full Council at its regular meeting on December 8, 2009.
I would like to encourage anyone who is interested in appointment to apply at the City
Clerk's Office. Applications for appointment are reviewed on an annual basis. Should a
vacancy arise, the Nominating Committee will review the applications on file and make a
recommendation to the full Council.
I appreciate all the Fair Board's hard work in making Yakima a success.

Dear Mayor and Yakima City Council Members:
We would formally like to request that two members of the Central Washington Fair
Association's board of directors be added to the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.
In reviewing RCW 67.28.1817, it provides for a minimum number of five members and does not
provide for any maximum number of members.
We understand in reviewing the City Ordinance that the current LTAC would and could be
expanded by two members if the City Council of Yakima so desires,
We would ask for this consideration as the law states that "persons involved in activities
authorized to be funded by a revenue received under this chapter" and we certainly qualify as an
entity to receive the funds. We note that currently there is one member representing the Yakima
Visitors Bureau and one representing the Yakima Convention Center. Our two board members
would represent the Yakima Valley SunDome and State Fair Park.
We would ask for your favorable consideration as the SunDome and State Fair Park provide a
significant economic factor to the lodging tax revenues.
