HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/01/2008 04B Minutes 06-09-2008 Council Boards and Commissions Appointing Committee • APPOINTING COMMITTEE 11 FOR • BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS • June 9, 2008 Meeting called to order by Chairman Norm Johnson at 4:00 p.m. Attendees: Council Member Johnson and Assistant Mayor Cawley ; Staff: Dave Zabell and Linda Watkins. • The vacancies for nine committees were reviewed. • CAWLEY MOVED AND JOHNSON SECONDED: To reappoint Bill Wheeler to the Air Terminal Board. To reappoint Alan Adolf to the Bicycle /Pedestrian Advisory Committee. To reappoint Jeff Louman and Barbara Cline to the Board of Appeals. To reappoint Melanie Gilmore to the Charter Civil Service Commission. • To reappoint Bob Mason to the Community Review Board. To reappoint Julie Smith to the Federal Renewal Community Commercial Revitalization Deduction Allocations Committee. To reappoint Maureen Adkison to the Parks and Recreation Commission. 110 To reappoint Angie Girard to the Public Facilities District Board. To reappoint Scott Irons to the Yakima Historic Preservation Commission. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. These recommendations will be made to the full council at the June 10, 2008 meeting. • The remaining vacancies were discussed (CRB, Parks & Rec, and Historic Preservation). Assistant City Manager Zabell brought up the fact that the Southeast Community Center Advisory Committee needs to be re- established. It is a 7- member committee. Six applications have been turned in but three of those are not eligible due to not meeting residency requirements. The Clerk's office was directed to submit a PSA to the media soliciting volumteers. An announcement will also be made during the June 10th City Council meeting. Randy Beehler will be asked to display the vacancies on YPAC. The Committee directed contact be made with the Chair of the Yakima Historic Preservation Commission requesting they unseat the member who is not attending the meetings. A replacement will also be solicited for that position. The meeting adjourned at 4:35 . Minutes approved No Johnson, Chair •
