City. Manager McMicken referred to the item Agenda concerning plans for a
Metropolitan Workshop on November 9, 1973, with the County and Chamber of Commerce. He
explained the proposal for the engagement of Mr'. Bob Ellis of Seattle by phone to answer
questions submitted by a selected panel. There was discussion by' the Council regarding
several methods for conducting the workshop. Mr: McMicken indicated it would provide for
a discussion of the Metropolitan Municipal Corporation act as it applies to Yakima. There
was no formal action taken by the Council at this time.
It_was MOVED by Cole, seconded Edmondson that`Mayor Broad be directed to write a letter
of appreciation to Hoover and Lewis and Schools'for their.participation in connection
with the litter control program being on this month: carried, Broad, Brown, Cole,
Edmondson, Holbrook, and Schussler voting aye by voice vote.
Councilman Holbrook requesting permission to be excused from the regular Council Meeting
of October 29th and Councilman Cole requesting permission - to be excused from the Adjourned
Regular Meeting of October 27th and the regular meeting on October 29, 1973, it was MOVED
by Brown, seconded by Edmondson that Councilmen Holbrook and Cole be excused on those dates
carried, Broad, Brown, Cole, Edmondson, Holbrook, and Schussler voting aye by voice vote.
There being no further business to come before the it was MOVED by Holbrook, secon4ed
by Cole that this meeting be adjourned at 5:00 P.M. to Wednesday, October 24, 1973, at
the hour of 6:00 P.M., to then meet at the'home Mayor Bert carried, Broad, Brown
Cole, Edmondson, Holbrook, and Schussler voting aye' by voice vote.

ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING - WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 24• 1973
The City Council met in session at 6:00 P.M. on this date at the home of Mayor Bert Broad.
Councilmen present at the meeting were Mayor. Bert Broad, Wray Brown, Betty L. Edmondson,
Ralph Holbrook, Don Schussler and Bill Whitaker. Councilman Howard C. Cole absent. Also
present were George Solomon, Tony DiTommaso, Art Eichler, City Manager McMicken, Glen
Koelling and Jack Daniel. -
A general discussion took place regarding the method of refuse collection by private
haulers, some aspects of public refuse collection, particularly relating to the M.B.R.
System', and trends in.the industry in other parts of the count "r.y. No action was taken at
this - tame.
There being no further business to come before the council, it was MOVED by Holbrook,
seconded by Whitaker that 'this meeting be adjourned at 10:00 P.M. to Friday, October 26,

Air Terminal: carried, Broad, Brown, Edmondson, Holbrook, Schussler and Whitaker voting
aye. by voice vote. Cole- absent. '

The City Council met in session on this date at 12 :00 Noon in the Flight Deck Restaurant.
Councilmen. present at the,meeting.were Mayor Bert Broad, Wray Brown, Betty L. Edmondson,
Ralph Holbrook, Don Schussler-and Bill Whitaker. Councilman Howard Cole absent.
General discussion of city affairs took place. No action was taken at this time.
There being no further business come before the Council, it was MOVED by Whitaker,
seconded by Holbrook that we do now adjourn at the hour of 1:30 P.M.: carried, Broad,
Brown, Edmondson, Holbrook, Schussle nd Whitaker voting aye by voice vote. Cole absent.
