HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/08/1972 Special Meeting '482/ DECEMBER 7, 1972 DECEMBER 8, 1972 SPECIAL MEETING YAKIMA CITY COUNCIL December 7, 1972 The City Council met in special session pursuant to due notice at 8:00 P.M., December 7, 1972, at the Don Schussler Residence in Yakima, Washington. Councilmen present at the meeting were Mayor Bert Broad, Wray Brown, Jim Lust, Don Schussle and Bill Whitaker. Councilmen Robinson and Lambert absent. Also present were City Manager McMicken, City Attorney Andrews, Finance Director, Leonard Crose and City Clerk Jack Daniel City Manager McMicken outlined proposals for adjustments to the 1973' Preliminary Budget, based on previous Council guidance, which would result in an overall reduction of about $200,000. He asked that the City Council be prepared to approve the final Budget at its meeting of December 18, 1972. The Council discussed the Open Meeting law. City Manager McMicken spoke to the philosoph- ical and ethical aspects of the law and City Attorney'Andrews addressed the technical and - legal side. No actions were taken. . READ AND CERTIFIED ACCURATE BY 7/ Oa: ?e , DATE /2'//7Z- COUNCILMAN #. ad DATE /aX - //° 7.a COUNCILMAN ATTEST: / • CITY CLERK MAYOR SPECIAL MEETING YAKIMA CITY COUNCIL December 8, 1972 The City Council met in special session pursuant to due notice at 12:00 noon, December 8, 1972, at the Chinook Hotel, Yakima, Washington. - Councilmen present at the meeting were Mayor Bert Broad, Wray Brown, Jim Lust, Walter Robinson, Don Schussler and Bill Whitaker. Also present were Jim Bowers and Mr. Scott Wilson. Scott Wilson reported on the activity of the Softball Association and the part the Associa- tion has had in the development of the softball and baseball diamonds at Larson Park. He reported that there is need for another lighted field to exploit the possible development of softball in Yakima and that said light would cost approximately $20,000. It was agreed that the City Manager be requested to talk this matter over with Park Director, Bill Hutsinpiller, and report to the Council. It was agreed that Councilmen Wray Brown, Walter Robinson and Mayor Bert Broad meet with the City Manager to discuss salary arrangements for 1973. There was discussion concerning compensation for Council members and it was agreed that the A. W. C. report on Municipal Salaries and Fringe Benefits be sent to Council members.
