ADJOURNED MEETING
COUNCIL MEMBER CANDIDATE INTERVIEWS
DECEMBER 15, 2008 — 10:00 A.M. — 2:00 P.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS — YAKIMA CITY HALL
1. Roll Call
Present:
Council: Mayor Dave Edler, presiding, Assistant Mayor Micah Cawley, Council
Members Kathy Coffey, Rick Ensey, Bill Lover and Neil McClure
Staff: Assistant City Manager Zabel!, Acting City Attorney Harvey and City Clerk
Moore
Absent: Norm Johnson (excused)
ACTION: Motion failed to follow the established procedure for interviewing candidates
in 5 -4 -4 blocks while remaining candidates waited in another room during interviews
failed.
VOTE: 3 -3
2. Council Candidate Interviews
10:15 — 11:30 A.M.: Travis Carr, Dean Armitage, Greg Bohn, Tim Price, Maureen
Adkison, Juven Garcia, Angela Weeks, Sharon Madson, Isidro Reynaga, Larry Ausink,
Donald Crosslin, T.J. Davis, Arajean Johnson, Dave Ettl and Don Franklin
ACTION: Motion to adjourn for lunch for one hour carried. VOTE: Unanimous
12:30 — 1:15 P.M.: Susan Whitman, Keith Hurley, Sonia Rodriguez, Steven Gaulke,
Doug Picatti, Cecilia Vogt, Mateo Artega, Larry Hull and Cesar Dominguez
ACTION: Motion to adjourn to Execution Session for 1.5 hours to evaluate qualifications
of candidates and evaluate complaints against a public employee carried. VOTE:
Unanimous
2:20 P.M. -- Council reconvened to discuss next steps in the process.
ACTION: Motion carried to accept the three candidates who received multiple votes into
the final pool; the remaining candidates that received one vote will go through a second
round and Council voting for two to reduce the pool. VOTE: 5 -1, Cawley voting no.
Candidates advancing for further interviews are Maureen Adkison, Dave Ettl, Sonia
Rodriguez, Greg Bohn, Cecilia Vogt and Cesar Dominguez.
ACTION: Motion carried to interview six candidates on December 29 beginning at 10:00
a.m. at fifteen minute intervals. VOTE: Unanimous
ACTION: Motion carried for each Council member to ask the candidates one question.
VOTE: Unanimous
3. Adjournment at 3:07 p.m.
ACTION: Motion carried to adjourn to December 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. to continue the
interview process. VOTE: Unanimous.
