RURAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT RESOURCES Youth Financial Fitness & Leadership Program (YFF) Project Name: Youth Financial Fitness & Leadership Program Invited Partners: JP Morgan Chase, Qwest, and Yakima's Davis High School. This is the only high school presently part of the project. Purpose: The purpose of the program is to empower and educate 15 high school students that are juniors and seniors in all aspects of financial literacy. Additionally, providing economic opportunities to under served high school students enrolled full-time and who reside in the targeted area. Plan of Action: • The students will be the required to take a 20 hour Financial Literacy educational and job skill training in the evenings. The session will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 -8 pm for 5 weeks. • The students will have the opportunity to be placed on job sites as interns and gain work experience for 10 weeks. • The students will have an opportunity to be provided summer job opportunities. Compensation: Each student will get a stipend of $io a session for classroom educational component hours. Additionally, each student will be allowed up to 10 hours per week at a job placement for 10 weeks with a stipend of $72 per week. Targeted Area: The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) that is with in the parameters of W. Nob Hill to the South, N & S 16th to the west, I82 to the East, and Naches Hwy to the North. Students enrolled at Davis outside of the target area will be considered if space is available. Job Mentors: Private businesses will be utilized to provide an internship opportunity for up to 10 hours per week for 10 weeks. A job description will be provided for the students and the project coordinator will monitor their attendance and work. Credits: Students will not be given credit as part of the project.
