For Meeting of: November 3, 2015 ITEM TITLE: Yakima River Basin Integrated Plan Status Report and a Support Request -- fifteen minute presentation with PowerPoint SUBMITTED BY: David Brown, Water /Irrigation Manager, 509 -575 -6204 SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The Yakima Basin Integrated Plan (IP) is a thirty year plan to insure adequate water is available for agriculture, industry, municipal uses, to maintain and aquatic life and improve conditions for salmonids. The city has been part of this planning effort from the very beginning in June 2009. Councilman Bill Lover and David Brown have shared the seat at the Workgroup table. The next step in the process of the IP is setting up an outreach program and hiring an Outreach Coordinator. The coordinator has been hired and that program is just beginning to come on -line. One of the first projects for the Outreach Program is to talk with members of the Workgroup like the City of Yakima. The next is to solicit written support. The Outreach group is here to present a status report on the progress and successes of the IP and to ask Council for a letter of support, a sample letter will be provided.
