Date: Jan. 9, 2009
Mayor Edler and City Council Members,
Attached are two lists for you to review in preparation for your Jan. 15 special meeting.
The first list includes various committees, commissions, boards, and task forces on which
Council members serve. The list is divided into four distinct categories:
1) City of Yakima Council Committees — These are standing committees of the
Council which consist only of Council members •
2) Yakima City Council Appointees to Other Boards, Committees, Commissions,
Task Forces, etc. — These primarily include governing bodies of various local and
regional organizations on which representation by the Council is requested (or in
some cases, required)
3) Filled by Mayor (or Mayor's Designee) — These include positions on various
governing bodies which, by statute or some other requirement, are to be filled by the
mayor or a designee of the mayor
4) State Boards, Committees, Commissions, etc. — These include governing bodies
of statewide organizations on which Council members may be invited to serve
The second list includes current responsibilities and /or pending assignments of standing
Council Committees.
On both lists, Vacancy indicates positions to which former Council Member Norm Johnson was
previously appointed.
If you have questions prior to your Jan. 15 special meeting concerning any of the positions or
the process typically used to make appointments, please contact either of us.
