1. Yakima Graffiti Program abatement and enforcement activities — continued
from October 28 City Council Study Session
The list of suggestions that came out of the October 28 study session has been
broken down into two categories: a list of suggestions to be considered by the
Council Neighborhood Development Committee and a list to be considered by the
Council Public Safety Committee.
The Committee briefly discussed some of the specific suggestions, but focused
more on the general concepts that came out of study session and follow up
conversations. Kathy stated that she and others that she has talked to think that it
• would be helpful to have one person that will oversee the graffiti abatement
program. This person could work in conjunction with some sort of graffiti task
force or community committee. Bill Lover agreed and said that he thinks we have
gathered the information we need to develop a comprehensive program. Now it is
just a matter of working through the process, beginning with the discussions with
the two committees.
The graffiti discussion will continue at the next Public Safety Committee meeting.
2. Discussion of Council's policy regarding fences in the ROW
Bill Cook requested the Committee's approval to take to the full Council an
update of the City's ordinance regarding fences in the ROW. The Committee
agreed. The updated ordinance can go directly to Council when it is ready.
