HomeMy WebLinkAboutSouthern Police Institute - Homicide Investigation Course AgreementSouthern Police Institute xcellence in olicing Department of Criminal Justice University of Louisville Louisville, KY 40292 Main Office: 502-852-6561 Fax: 502-852-0335 www./ouLyville.edu/spi han://ww.facebook.cont/SPLLouisville Homicide Investigation Course Agreement between Southern Police Institute and the Yakima Police Department Yakima, WA The Southern Police Institute (SPI), in concert with the Yakima Police Department (YPD) 200 S. 3rd Street, Yakima, WA 98901, will co -host the 10-day (80-hour) course entitled Homicide Investigation Course, to be held at the Yakima Police Training Room 207 S. 3rd Street, Yakima, WA 98901 on August 7-18, 2023, beginning at 8:00 AM and ending at 5:00 P.M. A minimum of 25 paid registered participants is required to guarantee this training course will proceed as scheduled. Regarding course attendance, the co- host may earn one (1) free seat with 30-34 paid registrations and one (1) additional tuition -free seat for multiples of 5 additional paid registrations up to 40, as exampled below: Two (2) tuition -free seats with 35-39 paid registrations Three (3) tuition -free seats with 40-45 paid registrations A co -hosting agency may earn up to two (2) additional tuition -free seats in this SPI training course by agreeing to provide a Course Coordinator and/or transportation assistance to course instructional staff as specified below. Administrative Assistance (one additional free seat) A co -hosting agency may earn up to one (1) additional tuition -free seat in this SPI training course by agreeing to provide a course coordinator to perform the responsibilities listed below: • Set up the classroom with SPI materials • Introduce instructors to the class (bios will be provided by SPI) • Process necessary documents (registration, evaluations, and Scantrons if applicable) • Conduct examination for course (if applicable) • Disseminate course and instructor evaluations and course materials (provided by SPI) • Mail examinations and evaluations to SPI • Review and adhere to Guidelines for Course Coordinator (provided by SPI) (Initial here,,, if providing a Course Coordinator for one (1) additional seat) Transportation Assistance (one additional free seat) A co -hosting agency may earn up to one (1) additional tuition -free seat in this SPI training course by agreeing to provide transportation services to the instructor(s) as listed below: Provide ground transportation for course instructors to and from airport, hotel and ttping site. (Initial here.. i' providing Transportation Assistance for one (1) additional seat) Both SPI and YPD agree to the following responsibilities: SPI a. Advertise the program as part of the current Course Schedule training schedule, on the SPI web, SPI face book page and other venues as appropriate. b. Provide an email flyer in PDF format on the SPI website and to the co -host. c. Handle the course registration process. d. Provide qualified instructional personnel. e. Provide training materials (via link sent out to their email address two weeks prior to beginning of course(s), pad folio, notebook, name tent, etc.), instructor and course evaluation forms and exams. f. Pay costs associated with air travel and the on -site stay of the instructors. g. Collect tuition and registration information on-line via the SPI website. h. (A Certificate will be awarded from the Southern Police Institute, Department of Criminal Justice, College of Arts and Sciences, University of Louisville. This certificate will be sent via email, in PDF format, to each participant two weeks of the conclusion of the course.); and i. In concert with YPD cancel the program if registration is less than the minimum number of participants. (A cancellation must be at least 30 days in advance of class.) YPD will: a. Correspond with area law enforcement executives to encourage participation in the program. b. Appoint a course liaison or coordinator as a point of contact (POC) to provide assistance to SPI, recruit personnel for and encourage participation in the program. c. Assist with local/regional marketing of the training course by contacting other law enforcement representatives to encourage participation prior to the beginning of the course; and d. Provide a suitable classroom for up to 50 participants equipped with a whiteboard, flip charts, markers, LCD projector, projection screen (8'x10' min.), external DVD/CD Drive, wireless remote presenter, and personal computer with speakers (that will accommodate PowerPoint presentations), adequate power sources.
