ITEM TITLE: An ordinance relating to parks and playgrounds; relating to
possession of firearms in any park or playground; and amending
Yakima Municipal Code Section 13.16.120.

SUMMARY EXPLANATION: The proposed amendment will make our city code consistent with
state law. The Revised Code of Washington regulates the prohibition on possessing firearms
and this code section is inconsistent with the state law.

ORDINANCE NO. 2009 -
AN ORDINANCE relating to parks and playgrounds; relating to possession of
firearms in any park or playground; and amending Yakima
Municipal Code Section 13.16.120.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Section 1. Section 13.16.120 of the City of Yakima Municipal Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
No person - •- •- - -- - -- -- - -- - -- - -- -- ••-, -
shall any percon throw stones or other missiles, in any park or playground, or
into the waters of any pool, wading pool or swimming pool.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage,
approval, and publication as provided by law and by the City Charter.
