SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The City of Yakima has received from Zier Orchards, LLC, a Notice of Intent to Commence
Annexation for their property located in the vicinity of 8002 Zier Road. They are the sole
owners of this land so their notice accounts for 100% of the assessed value. The owner is
currently in the process of reconfiguring the parcels to match this proposed annexation. Actual
assessed value will not be available until such time as the Assessor's Office has determined
the values for the altered properties. Currently, the value for the parent parcels is $1,392,730
and the approximate size of the annexation is approximately 57 acres.
At this time City Council is being asked to act upon this request and to approve the City's
Standard Motions A & B as they pertain to annexations. Standard Motion "A" reads as follows:
. "1 move that today, May 19, 2009, be set as the time of a meeting with the initiating parties who
have signed a Notice of Intent to Commence Annexation Proceedings, the initiating parties
being as follows:
Cole Hanson for Zier Orchards LLC
Standard Motion "B" reads as follows: "I move that the annexation proposed by the above
parties be accepted by the City of Yakima, that the area to be annexed be required to assume
its share of the City's existing indebtedness, and that a Notice of Intent to Annex be filed with
the Yakima County Boundary Review Board."

BOARD RECOMMENDATION: On May 6, 2009 the Council Economic Development
Committee met to review this request and following discussion voted to recommend the
intitiation of this annexation to the Council as a whole.

and hereby notifies the City Council of the City of Yakima that they intend to
commence annexation proceedings to have the above referenced real property
annexed to the City of Yakima. That the above named, owner(s) of the property
01110 for which annexation will be petitioned, respectfully request the City council to
meet with its officers within 60 days to determine whether the City will accept the
proposed annexation.
