Council Develo Committee
Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Proposed Annexation
Bruce Benson informed the Committee that the City has received a Notice of Intent to
Commence Annexation from the West Valley Foursquare Church and Rich Hochrien for
their two properties located in the vicinity of 8603 Wide Hollow Road. They are the sole
property owners. The Committee voted to recommend the initiation to the full Council.
Yakima County Development Association (YCDA) Regional Customer Service Committee
Dave McFadden asked the Committee to consider appointing a Council member to the
. YCDA Regional Customer Service Committee. Neil McClure served in this role previously.
The YCDA Committee meets approximately three times per year. At their June meeting
they will begin to work through a strategic plan to determine what they want to accomplish in
the next twelve to eighteen months. The appointment will be considered the next time the
Council considers committee appointments.
0 Discussion' of licensing requirements for sign companies
Currently there are different insurance requirements in the two.sections of the Municipal
Code that regulate banners and signs. Staff proposed an update to standardize the
requirements. Kathy talked about the need to maintain the banners properly when they are
• in place. She suggested that the standardization should occur now and at some point the
condition of the banners should be addressed. The Committee recommended that the
standardization go forward to the full Council and recommended approval.
Update on Grade Separation Project
Michael Morales reported that it is hopeful that the final BNSF details will be addressed in
the new few weeks so that the project can be advertised for bid.
Economic Indicators
Bill Cook asked if the Committee would appreciate an update of economic indicators at .
each meeting.. Dave McFadden offered to help develop some indicators for the next
meeting.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Council Economic Development Committee will
be Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at 4:00 p.m. . .
