A RESOLUTION amending the Fire and Life Safety Fee Schedule.
WHEREAS, fees for Fire and Life Safety Inspections will be established in the City's
Master Fee Schedule; and
WHEREAS, fees for Fire and Life Safety Inspections were established in 2017 and were
approved for a modest increase in 2018 but have not seen an increase since then; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima used information provided during a fee study conducted
by FCS Group to analyze appropriate fees and make recommendations to the City for new fee
adjustment to increase cost recovery; and
WHEREAS, FCS Group was determined to be qualified to perform this fee analysis; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that approval of such fees is in the
best interests of residents of the City of Yakima; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
Upon Ordinance No. 2022-040 becoming effective, the fire and life safety fees as set
forth in the attached Exhibit "A" are hereby adopted.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 13th day of December, 2022.

ITEM TITLE: Resolution amending the Fire and Life Safety Fee Schedule

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Yakima City Council authorized the implementation of fire inspection fees beginning in
January of 2017 with an increase adjustment in May of 2018. It has been over four years since
any adjustments in fees have been requested to cover the increased cost for this service. The
Fire Department's Community Risk Reduction Division is requesting council consider an
increase to the fees as outlined in Exhibit "A".
