HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/16/2009 04B Minutes 05-21-2009 Council Citizen Boards/Commissions/Committees Nominating CommitteeYakima City Council Subcommittee Meeting Minutes of the May 21, 2009 CITIZEN BOARDS /COMISSIONS /COMMITTEES NOMINATING COMMITTEE Mayor's Office 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Council Present: Micah Cawley, Kathy Coffey, Sonia Rodriguez Staff Present: Deputy City Clerk Linda Watkins The members reviewed the matrix showing open positions and applicants for each committee and the applications. Board of Appeals - Cawley moved and Rodriguez seconded to recommend reappointment of Rod Cassel, Jim Fickel, Jim Johnston, and Terry Poe to the Board of Appeals. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Bicycle /Pedestrian Committee - Coffey moved and Rodriguez seconded to recommend reappointment of Sally Mao and appointment of Sarah Boothman to the Bicycle/ Pedestrian Advisory Committee. The motion.. carried by unanimous voice vote. Historic Preservation Commission - Coffey moved and Rodriguez seconded to recommend reappointment of Celeste Barry and Joe Mann to the Yakima Historic Preservation Commission. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Parks & Recreation Commission - Coffey moved and Rodriguez seconded to recommend reappointment of Rod Bryant, Tom Hinman and Mike Nixon and appointment of Alex Deccio to the Parks & Recreation Commission. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Public Facilities District - Coffey moved and Rodriguez seconded to reappoint Dan Marples and Eve Semon to the Public Facilities District. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote. Southeast Community Center - Following the meeting, a phone call was made to clarify whether Johnnie Harvey wanted to be reappointed to her position. She agreed that she would like to stay on the committee. By e -mail, the three members of the nominating committee voted in favor of reappointing Johnnie Harvey to the SECC. 1-'0/ /(-P- &' Ile e- 11 e . - Following the meeting an email went to the nominating committee advising them that Melanie Gilmore's term on the Police & Fire Civil Service Commission had expired in December 2008; the Commission would like her reappointed. The Nominating Committee members agreed. ACTION REQUIRED: Cawley agreed to talk with his contacts in radio about running a PSA soliciting applications for the Community Review Board. Watkins will contact the Housing Authority to get an update on their search for candidates to fill two open positions. The meeting adjourned at 3:44 p.m. .
