HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/05/1967 Business Meeting 287 • JUNE 5, 1967 The City Council met in regular session, Mayor Larson presiding, Councilmen Brown, Lambert, Lynch and McNeice,and City Manager Smith and City Attorney Andrews present on roll call. Councilmen Kurbitz and Robinson absent. on roll call. Councilman Robinson having been . excused at the meeting of May 15, 1967, it was MOVED by Lambert, seconded by McNeice that Councilman Kurbitz be excused from this meeting: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and McNeice voting aye by voice vote. The Invocation was given by Councilman Brown. • The minutes of the regular meeting of May 29, 1967; having been duly certified accurate by two Councilmen, and no one present wishing to have said minutes read publicly, Mayor Lar -, son declared said minutes approved as recorded. An Ordinance appropriating $2$,000 within the 1967 Budget to the Engineering Department for additional engineering personnel, having been read in its entirety at regular meeting on May 29, 1967, and being read by Title only at this meeting, it was MOVED by Lambert, seconded by Brown that Ordinance No. 923 providing for said appropriation, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and McNeice voting aye on roll call. Kurbitz and Robinson absent. City Manager Smith explained that this money is needed to pay for extra help hired so that the engineering on the Yakima Municipal Airport improvements can be done.. He further explained that this appropriation is not in reality a. request for new funds, but rather a technique to simplify the process of paying for our engineering help out of our Airport Bond issue. ORDINANCE NO. 923, AN ORDINANCE appropriating the amount of 528,000 from unappropriated monies in the Current Expense Fund to Account 7 -020, Part Time, Temporary, Overtime and Special Assignment., of the Salaries and Wages Classification in the 1967 appropriation for 124, Engineering Department. Petition No. 532, having been filed with the City Clerk on June 5, 1967, by John Decoto, for Decoto Aircraft, Inc. and Decoto Brothers, requesting vacation of a street right of way adjacent to the Yakima Municipal Airport, in order to construct a new building, it was MOVED by Lambert, seconded by McNeice that said petition be referred to the City Manager • and Planning Commission for study and recommendation: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and McNeice voting aye by voice vote. Kurbitz and Robinson absent. , MOVED by Brown, seconded by McNeice that Ordinance No. 924 relating to personnel and the Comp. Plan - Senior Planner position, and amending the Yakima Municipal Code, passed as read: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and McNeice voting aye on roll call. Kurbitz and Robinson absent. City Manager Smith explained that the only change made by this amendment is in the Senior Planner position salary. . ORDINANCE NO. 924, AN ORDINANCE relating to personnel and salaries; designating the classi- fication plan and salary ranges for professional and related technical personnel; and amending Sub - section 2.20.100(c) of the City of Yakima Municipal Code. • . MOVED by Lynch, seconded by. Brown that Resolution No. D -1079 amending Resolution No. D -1071, authorizing the Auction Sale of surplus vehicles owned by the City, deleting certain items, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and McNeice voting aye on roll . call. Kurbitz and Robinson absent. City Manager Smith explained that the two items to be deleted are needed for the extra personnel working on the Yakima Municipal Airport improve- ments. RESOLUTION NO. Kurbitz and.Robinson absent. • City Attorney Andrews gave a short report on the Court Case which was brou ,ght about as the result of a vehicle accident at 24th and Summitview. Councilman Lynch indicated that he felt a study should be made of the possibility of the City carrying liability insurance to . cover such cases as this.
