The minutes of the regular meeting of May 1, 1967, having been duly certified accurate by . two Councilmen, and no one present wishing to have said minutes read publicly, Mayor Lar- son declared said minutes approved as recorded. . This being the time fixed for the Hearing on Resolution No. D -1066, being a Resolution of Intention to improve property by the construction of a pipe sewer, in accordance with Petition Nos. 49$, 502; 504., 513 and 516, and there being no protests'in writing or other- •. wise, it was MOVED by Lynch, seconded by McNeice that Ordinance No. 907 creating L.I.D. No. 963, Englewood Heights and Others Sewer District, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Kurbitz, Lambert, Larson; Lynch, McNeice and Robinson voting aye on roll call. . ORDINANCE. NO. 907, AN ORDINANCE providing for•the improvement of certain property by con- . structing a pipe sewer with the necessary wye branches and manholes;, establishing a•Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment thereof, and creating a special . fund. Petition No. 524, Notice of Intention to Commence Annexation Proceedings, having been filed with the City Clerk on May 5, 1967, by Larry D. & Patricia S. Zerr, requesting annex- ation of property located between Mead' Avenue and King Street and S. 7th and Cornell Ave- nues, it was MOVED by Robinson, seconded by Lynch that this date be set as the time for a meeting with the initiating party., who signed.the Notice of Intention to Commence •Annexa- tion Proceedings dated May 5, 1967: carried, Brown, Kurbitz, Lambert, Larson, Lynch, McNeice and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Patricia S. Zerr, indicating that the area to be annexed is willing to assume its share of the City's existing indebtedness, it was duly moved, seconded and passed that the annexation proposed by petition no. 524 (Notice • of Intention to Commence Annexation Proceedings) be accepted by the City of Yakima and that the area sought to be annexed be required to assume the City's existing indebtedness. Mr. Bill Cahoon, President of the Yakima Jaycees,stated.that they are planning a house • numbering project and would like the Council's public support and approval. He explained. that the Jaycees plan to put house numbers on curbs at a $1.00 charge per unit, after ask- ing the home owner's permission, and are planning some advance publicity on this project. He further explained that they plan to do this for several years as a part of their regular program and as a money- making project, as it will take some time to do the whole City. • Council members indicated that they think this is a worthwhile project and will be a defi- nite service to the public, as it.will help many departments such as the Police and Fire Departments to find houses easier at night where house numbers are not easily seen. Fire Chief Jules Shockley, stated.that this project would definitely help the Fire Department. After due discussion, it was MOVED by Robinson, seconded by McNeice that the Yakima City Council will support the action of the Yakima Jaycees in their house numbering project: carried, Brown, Kurbitz, Lambert, Larson, Lynch, McNeice and Robinson voting aye by voice vote.
