AUGUST 29, 1966 .
The City Council met in regular session, Mayor Larson presiding, Councilmen Brazier,
Brown, Lynch and Robinson, City Manager Smith and City Attorney Andrews present on roll
call. Kurbitz absent on roll call. Lambert absent and excused. It was MOVED by Robinson,
seconded by Lynch that Councilman Kurbitz be excused from this meeting: carried, Brazier,
Brown, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. (Lambert excused last week).
The Invocation was given by Councilman Brazier.
The minutes of the regular meeting of August 22, 1966, having been duly certified accurate
by two Councilmen and no one present wishing to have said minutes read publicly, Mayor
Larson declared said minutes approved as recorded.
Petition No. 483, having been filed with the City Clerk on August 24, 1966, by Albertson's,
Inc., requesting rezone of property located at 3905 and 3909 Tieton Drive, between 38th
and 40th Avenues on Tieton Drive, it was MOVED by Lynch, seconded by Robinson that said
Petition be referred to the Planning. Commission for study and recommendation: carried,
Brazier, Brown, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Kurbitz and Lambert
absent.
Petition No. 484, having been filed with the City Clerk on August 26, 1966., by Pete L.
Calza, requesting annexation of property West of N. 6th Avenue, between Laurel Street and
Fruitvale Boulevard, it was MOVED by Robinson, seconded by Lynch that said Petition for
annexation be referred to the City Manager and Planning Commission for study and recommenda-
tion: carried, Brazier, Brown, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Kur-
bitz and Lambert absent. .
MOVED by Robinson, seconded by Brown that Resolution No..D -995 authorizing the execution
of a Pipe Line Crossing Agreement with the Yakima Valley Transportation Company,,be
as read: carried, Brazier,. Brown, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye on roll call.
Kurbitz and Lambert absent.
RESOLUTION NO. D -995, A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Mayor and City Clerk of
the. City of Yakima to execute a.Pipe Line Crossing Agreement with the Yakima Valley.Trans-
portation Company.
City Manager Smith recommending and requesting authorization for two members of the Fire
Department, Fred McIntosh and Ed Carroll, to attend a 3z -day special training school on
emergency care of the sick and injured, in Portland, Oregon, from September 21 to September
24, 1966, at an approximate total cost of $140.00, it was MOVED by Brazier, seconded by
Robinson, that said trip be allowed with expenses paid: carried, Brazier, Brown, Larson,
Lynch and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Kurbitz and Lambert absent. Fire Chief, Jules
Shockley, explained that this school will give new information on new equipment and methods
to these men, who will bring it back and instruct other Fire Department personnel.
City Manager Smith requesting authorization for travel for a one -day trip to Cornelius,
Oregon, by Virgil Wilson and Jules Shockley of the Fire Department, and Purchasing Agent,
Kermit Smith, to look over new fire equipment being ssembled for the Yakima Fire Depart-
ment, the approximate cost for travel being about $15.00, it was MOVED by Robinson, secon-
ded by Lynch that said trip be allowed with expenses paid: carried, Brazier, Brown, Lynch,
Larson and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Kurbitz and Lambert absent.
Mayor Larson reporting that the Mayor's Committee on Human Rights has requested that
another member be appointed to this committee, and he suggested Stewart Semon, it was MOVED
by Robinson, seconded by Brown that Stewart Semon be appointed to said committee: carried,
Brazier, Brown, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Kurbitz and Lambert
absent.
There being no further business to come before the Council, it was MOVED by Lynch, seconded
by Brazier that we do now adjourn at the hour of 3:35 P.M.: carried, Brazier, Brown, Lar-
son, Lynch and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. Kurbitz and Lambert absent.
