HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/22/1966 Business Meeting 199 . • AUGUST 22, 1966 The City Council met in regular session, Mayor Larson presiding, Councilmen Brown, Lambert, Lynch and Robinson, City and City - Attorney Andrews present on roll call.. . Kurbitz absent on roll call. Brazier absent and excused. It was MOVED by Robinson, secon- ded by Lynch that Councilman Kurbitz be excused from this meeting: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye by voice vote. (Brazier excused last week). The Invocation was given by Councilman Brown. • The minutes of the regular meeting of August' 15; 1966, having been duly certified accurate II by two Councilmen and no one present wishing to have said minutes read publicly, Mayor Larson declared said minutes approved as recorded. . • This being the time fixed for the hearing on Petition No. 468, as filed by Jack R. Gustaf- son and Others, requesting annexation of property located South of Scenic Drive and East of 53rd Avenue, it was MOVED by Brown, seconded by Lambert that Ordinance No: $25 providing for said annexation, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye on roll call. Brazier and Kurbitz absent. ORDINANCE NO. 825, AN ORDINANCE providing. for the annexation. by the City of Yakima of cer- tain property contiguous to the City of Yakima and zoning the same as R -1, One- Family Zone. 'This being the time fixed for the Hearing on Resolution No. D -9$7, being a resolution of intention to improve property by constructing a pipe sewer in accordance' with Petition No. 452, as filed by Henry Hamberg and Others, it was MOVED by Robinson, seconded by Lambert that Ordinance No. $26 providing for said improvement and creating Local Improvement Dis- trict No. 957, be passed a s‘read: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and'Robinson vot- ing aye on roll call. Brazier and Kurbitz absent. Mrs. Hamberg, being present, asked questions as to whether the sewer is going to be put in the street or in the alley, and wanted to know,how soon this project will be started. John Mayo, Public Works Director, informed her that the sewer would be hooked onto existing lines in the street, and that the project would be started soon. ORDINANCE NO. $26, AN ORDINANCE providing for the improvement of certain property by con - structing a pipe sewer the necessary wye branches and manholes; establishing a Local Improvement District, providing for the method of payment.thereof, and creating a special fund. • . MOVED by Robinson, seconded by Brown that Ordinance.No. 827 fixing the time of delinquency and prescribing Installment Notes for the payment of the unpaid portion of L.I.D. No. 947, South First Street Domestic Water District, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye on roll call. Brazier and Kurbitz absent. City Manager Smith explained that Installment Notes are being used because the unpaid portion is a small amount. • ORDINANCE NO. 827, AN ORDINANCE fixing the time of delinquency of installments of assess- ments levied for the payment of the cost of the improvement in Local Improvement District No. 947, and providing for the issuance of Local Improvement District Installment Notes for . the payment of the unpaid portion thereof. MOVED by Lynch, seconded by Robinson that Resolution No. D -994, being a Resolution of Inten- tion to improve streets and alleys, creating a local improvement district, fixing the date of Hearing for September 12, 1966, and repealing Resolution No. D -993, be passed as read: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and Robinson voting aye on roll call. Brazier and Kurbitz absent. John Mayo; Public Works Director, explained that Resolution No. D - 933, passed August 15, 1966, is being repealed by Resolution No. D -994 to allow the required time before the Hearing date to mail out notices of said Hearing. RESOLUTION NO. D -994, A.RESOLUTION of intention to create a local improvement district; and repealing Resolution No. D -993 passed August 15, 1966. The following bids having been received on this date, August 22, 1966, and considered by . the Bid Board for the Washington Avenue Interceptor Sewer Extension No. 1 and L.I.D. Kimball in the amount of $49,586.18 and that the City Manager be and is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with said contractor upon the filing of the proper bond and insurance: carried, Brown, Lambert, Larson, Lynch and Robin- son voting aye by voice..vote. Councilman Lambert asking to be excused from the next Council meeting on August 29, 1966, it was MOVED by Lynch, seconded by Brown that she be excused from said meeting: carried, .
