ITEM TITLE:Resolution authorizing an agreement with the Yakima School
District for the maintenance and use of Upper Kiwanis Park for slow
pitch softball

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
The Yakima School District is requesting to use the softball fields at Kiwanis Park for the Davis
High School girls slow pitch softball games. Slow pitch softball is a newer sport for high school
girls participation.
The Agreement is intended to provide practice facilities to the Davis High School women's slow-
pitch softball team consisting of softball Field 5 on a priority basis during the WIAA season, as
well as provide Field(s) at Upper Kiwanis Park for Davis High School women's slow-pitch softball
WIAA league scheduled games during the term of the Agreement. The Agreement also outlines
the requirement of the Yakima School District to fund the City $100 per field per day for its
usage. The Agreement has been enclosed for City Council review.

RESOLUTION NO. R-2022-______
A RESOLUTION authorizing an Agreement with Yakima School District No. 7 for
Maintenance and Use of Upper Kiwanis Park for Slow Pitch
Softball.
WHEREAS, the Yakima School District and Davis High School would like to use
the Kiwanis Fields for slow pitch softball games; and,
WHEREAS, the City can facilitate the use of the fields under the terms and
conditions outlined in the Agreement; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima School District agrees with the terms and conditions
therein and would like to use the fields for the dates and activities listed in the Agreement;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that it is in the best interests of the City of
Yakima and its residents to authorize and enter into the Agreement Between the City of
Yakima and Yakima School District No. 7 for Maintenance and Use of Upper Kiwanis Park
for Slow Pitch Softball; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager is hereby authorized to execute the Agreement Between the City of
Yakima and Yakima School District No. 7 for Maintenance and Use of Upper Kiwanis Park
for Slow Pitch Softball, pursuant to the terms and conditions outlined therein, which is
attached hereto.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 20th day of September, 2022.
