R- 2015 -112 A RESOLUTION authorizing the Chief of Police to execute the Funded State and Local Agreement between the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration and the Yakima Police Department. WHEREAS, illegal sale and use of controlled substances in the City of Yakima has serious and adverse affects on the quality of life in the City of Yakima, and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has determined it is in the best interest of the City to devote resources in fighting the problems caused by the illegal sale and use of controlled substances; and WHEREAS, the City and USDOJ through their law enforcement agencies have maintained a cooperative working agreement designed to combat controlled substance traffic within the City of Yakima; and WHEREAS, the parties desire to enter into an agreement which provides a more formal organization in order to centralize supervision and enhance the efforts of the law enforcement agencies to combat controlled substance trafficking; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City that such agreement be executed by the City, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute the attached Provisional State and Local Task Force Agreement, which is by reference made a part hereof, now, therefore, ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 1St day of September, 2015.
