wi EREAS, Jiwanis International -is one of the largest service organizations in the
world with more than 600,000 members of all ages and abilities in more than 80 nations; and
WOEREAS, the members of the Niwanis clubs of Apple galley, Ramiakin, West
Valley and Downtown Yakima are hosting the other 7Jiwanis clubs of the area including
Selah, Goldendale, Prosser, Grandview, Sunnyside, Ellensburg, Rodeo City and Cie Elum in
celebration of service to their communities; and
` t'7L EAS, all7jiwanis members are devoted to improving fives and changing our
communities one child at a time; and
WiFEREAS, in addition, 7Jiwanis members promote the development of community
leaders, positive role models, intercultural -understanding and cooperation, and opportunities
forfellowship, personalgrowth, professional development and community service; and
`4, LEq AS, the first Kiwanis club started its service in Detroit, Uvtichigan, lJSA, in
1915 and is this year celebrating its Centennial -Anniversary of community service; and
WI EREAS, the service provided by the area Jiwanis clubs will continue to have a
positive impact on our community and citizens,
NOW, `ZffEREEORE, I, Micah Fawley, Mayor of the City of Yakima and on behalf
of the City Council, do hereby proclaim September 12, 2015 as
7(IWANIS IJIE fJ2 `IIOWJ4L DAT
in the City of Yakima and call upon all citizens to render support to the members of this
organization, join in celebration at Jiwanis Parkand to make themselves aware of Kiwanis
International, whose members this day are providing meaningful service to our homes, schools
and communities.
