RESOLUTION NO R-95- 164
A RESOLUTION authorizing the sale of 2 (two) surplus aerators owned
by the City of Yakima Wastewater Facility
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns surplus aerators, which are no
longer of substantial value to the City of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, the City of Naches has offered to purchase these surplus
aerators for $2,500 for the pair, now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA.
The City Manager of the City of Yakima is hereby authorized and
directed to sell 2 surplus aerators to the City of Naches for the sum of no less
than $2,500, the proceeds of which are to be credited to the Sewer Operating
fund 473

Surplus of 2 (two) floating Aire 02 Aerators

SUMMARY EXPLANATION:
Over 4 years ago the Yakima Wastewater Facility removed 8 (eight) floating aerators from the
sludge storage lagoons because of lagoon operation modifications. We do not anticipate that
the lagoons will require this type of aerators in the future.
Facility staff were contacted by Mayor Doug Mac Neil from the City of Naches about a significant
process problem at their wastewater facility. It was suggested that they could remedy their
problem through the use of one of these small aerators. This suggestion was attempted and
their problem was corrected.
Mayor Mac Neil obtained approval from the Naches City Council at the November 13, 1995
council meeting to purchase 2 of these aerators for the sum total of $2,500. A letter documenting
this approval is forthcoming and will be placed in the file. The $2,500 offer is in line with the
Jepreciated value of this machinery and more than we could expect through salvage value at
auction.
Staff recommends that the City Council declare 2 Aire 02 aerators as surplus and accept the
City of Naches' offer to purchase these units for the sum total of $2,500.
