R-95- 71 A RESOLUTION revising the schedule of fares for the public transportation system operated by the City of Yakima, and amending Resolution No. D-5383 adopted August 25, 1987 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: Section 1. Adult Fare. Except as provided in Sections 2 and 3 of this resolution, a fare of fifty cents ($ 50), called an "adult fare", shall be collected from each passenger; provided, an adult holding a current and valid adult bus pass issued by the City of Yakima Transit Division for a fee of Seventeen Dollars ($17 00) for a monthly period may ride any Yakima City bus an unlimited number of times, and at any time, by exhibiting such pass to the bus driver Section 2. Youth Fare. A. Except as provided in Sub -section 2.B of this resolution, a fare of thirty-five cents ($ 35), called a "youth fare", shall be collected from each passenger who is between the ages of six and eighteen years. No fare shall be collected from a passenger five years of age or younger when attended by another passenger who pays an appropriate fare. A youth fare shall be collected from each unattended passenger under six years of age. B A passenger holding a current and valid youth bus pass issued by the City of Yakima Transit Division, for a fee of Twelve Dollars ($12 00) for a monthly period, may ride any Yakima City bus an unlimited number of times, and at any time, by exhibiting such pass to the bus driver Section 3. Honored Citizen Program. A. "Honored Citizen" Defined. "Honored Citizen" shall mean a person who meets the following requirements: (1) Must be sixty-two years of age or older; or, (2) Must be a disabled person. B. "Honored Citizen" Fare Rates. (1) A fare of twenty-five cents ($ 25) shall be collected from each "Honored Citizen" bus passenger (2) A passenger holding a current and valid "Honored Citizen Bus Pass" issued by the City of Yakima Transit Division for the fee of Five Dollars ($5 00) for lap/transit/busfare.res 5/4/95 2:10 PM RESOLUTION REVISING BUS FARES -- Page 1 a monthly period may ride' any Yakima City bus an unlimited number of times by exhibiting such pass to the bus driver (3) A legally blind passenger may ride any Yakima City bus at any time without paying any fare. Section 4. Dial -A -Ride Fare. A fare of thirty-five cents ($0 35) called the "Dial -A -Ride fare", shall be collected from each passenger for each trip made on the demand responsive service for people with disabilities provided by the City of Yakima known as Dial -A -Ride. B The fare will not be collected from an attendant who accompanies a Dial -A -Ride passenger who requires assistance. The Dial -A -Ride fare will be collected from each person six years of age or older who accompanies the disabled passenger except as provided in subsection 4.B. of this resolution. Section 5. Special Event Fare. A fare of one dollar ($1 00), called the "special event fare" shall be collected from each passenger six years of age or older upon boarding enroute to a special event. No fare will be collected for the return trip from the special event.
