RESOLUTION NO. R-94- 128
A RESOLUTION approving the Yakima Gateway Project Right -of -Way Plan (East
Yakima Avenue Interchange) and authorizing the acquisition
of property as contemplated therein.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima has been engaged in a joint effort with the
Washington State Department of Transportation and the federal government to
improve the East Yakima Avenue Interchange (known as Yakima Gateway
Project), and
WHEREAS, federal, state, and local funds have been obligated for this
project, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has previously approved the concept of
improving the East Yakima Avenue Interchange of Interstate 82 within the City
of Yakima, and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of
Yakima to take necessary steps to implement the Yakima Gateway Project Right -
of -Way Plan, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA.
The City Council hereby approves the attached Yakima Gateway Project
Right -of -Way Plan (East Yakima Avenue Interchange) and authorizes the City
Manager to take all necessary and prudent steps to acquire the properties
specifically identified in the Yakima Gateway Project Right -of -Way Plan,
provided, hoNN ever, that the total aggregate cost of right-of-way acquisition shall
not exceed the dollar limitations of existing budget authority In accordance with
the attached Right -of -Way Plan, the City Manager is further authorized to execute
land purchase agreements, property settlements, and escrow instructions, and to
accept property conveyance instruments on behalf of the City of Yakima, subject
to review and approval as to form of all legal documents by the City Attorney
