Chinook Hotel, Yakima, Washington.

L. Edmondson and Don Schussler. Councilmen Jim Lust and Bill Whitaker absent. Also
present were Acting City Manager Fred Andrews and City Clerk Jack Daniel.
Mayor Broad informed the Council that he was delaying submittal of nominations for a
Convention and Cultural Center Bond. Drive Chairman until the City Manager returns.
Councilman Brown asked Staff members present whether there had been a proposal:',made to the
county for the city to provide fire protection and other city services to the Fair Grounds

unaware of any such proposals.
Councilman Schussler reported that he had recently met with the Housing and Renewal Com-
mittee and that they had decided not to meet again until the City Council has decided
whether it would financially support a housing and renewal program. He stated that this
committee had expressed disappointment that its needs had not been included in the Council

a financial commitment should be made contingent upon the development and approval of a
workable housing renewal plan. Councilman Edmondson suggested a dinner meeting on March
12, 1973, following the regular Council meeting to decide the matter of a financial com-
mitment to the Housing and Renewal Committee. No decision was made at this time. -
Mayor Broad reminded the Council that it had a decision to make at the next study session
concerning the question of acquiring the Masonic Center.

Mayor Broad informed the Council that the now inactive Volunteer Service Committee had
come to him with a request for supplies and other city services to support a new program.

city to put together a Community Development Plan in preparation for prospective special
FRS funding which might materialize in the fiscal year 1974.
Councilman Schussler requested that the Mayor make available to other Councilmen some of
the written material gathered relative to various federal programs.

by Schussler that we do now adjourn at the hour of 1:30 P.M.: carried,. Broad, Brown, Cole,
