R-93 -113 A RESOLUTION authorizing the City Manager and City Clerk of the City of Yakima to execute and submit a Federal -Aid Project Prospectus for the development of the Powerhouse Canal pathway to the Washington State Department of Transportation. WHEREAS, the City of Yakima desires to construct the Powerhouse Canal pathway as an urban transportation corridor for bicyclists and pedestrians within the City; and WHEREAS, federal funds are available for such projects through the Transportation Enhancement Program administered by the Washington State Department of Transportation; and WHEREAS, this project has been reviewed by the City Council and has been determined to be not inconsistent with the City's comprehensive plan for community development; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Yakima to execute and submit a Federal -Aid Project Prospectus to the Washington State Department of Transportation, now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute and submit a Federal -Aid Project Prospectus to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The pipe is a corrugated steel pipe arch, 57 -inch span x 38 -inch rise, and the existing surface is dirt with brush, weeds, and grasses. DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED WORK 0 NEW CONSTRUCTION ❑ 3-R ROADWAY WIDTH 8 -foot NUMBER OF LANES 1 The proposed work consists of the construction of an eight -foot wide asphalt paved bicycle and pedestrian transportation corridcr/pathway, with landscaping, along the entire length of the piped canal except for that portion along Lincoln Avenue. The major items of work include adding pipe cover, grading, placing subgrade, asphalt concrete paving, installation of an irrigation system and landscaping.
