Jennifer Norman, Lewis & Clark Middle School • "Teachers really appreciated having a `heads up' about the children they serve. Sometimes the children exhibited behaviors, but most of the time, they did not. I really like how the program strengthens school/law enforcement communication. A jOrogram sun as this can be really beneficial because otherwise you might miss something."Anna Marie Du cult Discovery Lab • "HWC is a great step that has been taken. I wish we could know more, however, I understand there is confidentiality. If there is something we can do on our end, I hope there is outreach to us. For example, can we send supplies to the home? (food, diapers, school supplies, etc." Lois Menard, Yakima Online YAKIMA SCHOOL DISTRICT 0-)Strengthening Community Through Education Lessons Learned • The extreme needs of these children may have not been noticed or met were it not for our Handle with Care Program and the strong partnerships we have built over the past year. • our children are all of our responsibility. If we do not work together to meet their needs now when we know they exist, they will continue to struggle, be non-productive, will drain our resources and make unsafe situations for themselves, their communities and their future children. • If we can work to find real solutions, they can learn skills and strategies to improve their situation and become a benefit to our community.
