SPECIAL MEETING
YAKIMA CITY COUNCIL
• JANUARY 12, 1973 •
The City Council met in special session pursuant to due notice at. 12:00 noon, January 12,
1973, at . the Chinook Hotel, Yakima, Washington.
Councilmen present at the meeting were Mayor Bert Broad, Wray Brown, Howard C. Cole;Betty
Edmondson, Jim Lust, Don Schussler and Bill Whitaker. Also present were City Manager
McMicken and City Clerk Jack Daniel.
There was concerning a dinner to honor former Councilmen Lambert and Robinson
and it was decided that the dinner would take place late in January, the 'date to be
announced by Mayor Bert Broad, and that there would be attempts to bring together on this
occasion, original members of the City Council and also Mr. George Smith, a former member
of the City Sta=ff. Also, the suggestion was made and all agreed that Mr. Bostic would be
an excellent Master of Ceremony for this occasion. -
Also discussed was the vacancies currently existing on 'the Parks and Recreation Committee,
as -well as on the Housing, Authority. Several names were mentioned as potential nominees
to fill these vacancies, however, no decisions were made at this time.
The philosophy of the use of Federal. Revenue Sharing was briefly referred to, but no
decisions were made at this time.
The final subject discussed concerned the Cultural Center Project as to the various loca-
tions proposed for this Center, methods of funding for the Center, and the upcoming
report from the Task Force assigned to put together the recommendations for the Cultural
Center. This is scheduled to be brought on the City Council early in February.
