HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-1993-002 Kittitas - Yakima / Agricultural Showcase1111 RESOLUTION NO • • A RESOLUTION authorizing execution of a Letter of Understanding with the Kittitas-Yakima Economic Development District. WHEREAS, the Kittitas-Yakima Economic Development District, a subdivision of the Washington State Department of Agriculture, is sponsoring a 1993 Washington State Agricultural Showcase at the Yakima Valley Sundome on August 25 through August 27, 1993; and WHEREAS, the City of Yakima sponsored a portion of said agricultural showcase in 1992 for the amount of $15,000 00; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds that such agricultural showcase has and will provide economic development opportunities for the residents of the City of Yakima, and WHEREAS, the City Council possesses authority to enter into contracts for the purpose encouraging economic development; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City of Yakima to partially sponsor the 1993 Agricultural Showcase for the amount of $15,000 00, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached and incorporated Letter of Understanding -- City of Yakima Kittitas-Yakima Economic Development District, January 7, 1993, together with its attached Sponsor Registration form. We request that you review the terms and conditions outlined herein, sign on the last page, retain a copy for your files and return the original document to Ki -Yak as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Terms and Conditions Showcase management agrees to provide City of Yakima with: • One 10' x 20' booth space • Name to appear as official sponsor on all appropriate signage and advertising • One company sign per total booth space • Introductions to international buyers • 4 complementary passes to welcoming reception 8/25/93 • 2 complementary pass to Western Barbecue 8/26/93 • Access to Leadership Tour participants from around Washington State and the Pacific Northwest • Showcase Steering Committee appointment City of Yakima agrees to the following: • Provide $7,000 in-kind services including select printing services and signage related to city beautification. Estimated printing needs: • 15,000 leadership invitations (2 color, 3 fold) •5,000 buyer promotional pieces (2 sided, 2 color) •Photocopy 500 packets for distribution to exhibitors and buyers at event (1 color, approx. 12-15 pages each) • Welcome to Yakima Banner (Similar to 1992) 15,000 pcs. @ .30 ea $4,500 5,000 pcs. @ .20 ea $1,000 7,5000 pcs. @ .10 ea $750 $750 Estimated Total: $7,000 KI -YAK • Showcase Administrator • County Courthouse • Yakima, Washington 98901 • (509) 575-2932 TRADEC • Showcase Coordinator • One Union Square • 600 University St., Suite 2801 • Seattle, Washington 98101 • (206) 224-4340 • An $8,000 cash contribution • Provide security as required at the event • Sponsors/exhibitors are limited to distributing appropriate literature within the confines of their display area. Non -exhibitors are not permitted to distribute promotional materials. • Should an emergency of any nature arise prior to the opening date of the Showcase, which would prevent its scheduled opening, such as destruction or damage to the exhibit building by fire, wind, storm, acts of God, strikes, etc., KI -YAK, its agents and officers are not liable for losses as a result of this emergency. • Type the registration form, providing complete and accurate names, addresses and products to be displayed within the booth. The registration form cannot be accepted unless this information is provided. • Release the Kittitas-Yakima Economic Development District, its agents and officers of liability for any losses as a result of this participation. • Complete all questions on the evaluation survey. This information will be used on a confidential bases to determine the effectiveness of the Showcase. • Comply with any and all rules set forth by the Yakima Valley facility. • Comply with the Yakima County fire code.
