Dear City Council and County Commissioners:
Enclosed please find a Joint Resolution of the City of Yakima and
Yakima County authorizing and ratifying the execution of Grant
Amendment Number 2 to the Federal Aviation Administration Grant
Number 3-53-0089-11 by William F. Almon, Chairman of the Yakima Air
Terminal Board. William F. Almon is also the Acting Attorney for
the Yakima Air Terminal Board, and is signator to the Certificate
of Sponsor's Attorney included in the Grant Acceptance documents.
A recent Federal Aviation Administration Civil Aviation Security
Field Office inspection of our facility revealed areas where
aviation security could be enhanced by installing approximately 635
1.f. of security fence, by modifying and adding automatic vehicle
gates at strategic locations on the field, and by upgrading signage
to our southern perimeter fences. The total security project cost
is estimated at $132,000, with the Federal Government providing 90%
of the funds.
The amendment changes the scope of work to be accomplished under
the Grant, and does not change the dollar amount of the Grant.
In order to amend the Grant, and receive Federal matching monies
for the security improvements, the Grant Amendment must be accepted
by the cosponsors (City of Yakima and Yakima County) before January
3, 1993, therefore, your expedience in getting it on your
respective agendas will be appreciated.
Sincerely,
---20 9
