A RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the City Manager and the
City of Yakima to file an application with the Department
of Housing and Urban Development for funding under the
Fair Housing Initiatives Program, "Education and
Outreach Initiative".
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Housing and Urban
Development has funds available to cities to assist its citizens in an
education and outreach program of housing needs in our community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Yakima deems it to be in
the best interests of the City that it file an application for funding for the
purpose mentioned above, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
R.A. Zais, Jr., City Manager of the City of Yakima, is hereby
authorized and directed to execute and file application documents,
including all understandings and assurances contained therein, with the
United States Department 'of Housing and Urban Development for funding
for the purpose mentioned above; and he further is hereby designated as
the official representative of the City to act in connection with that grant
request and to provide such additional information as may be required.

COMMUNITY HOUSING AWARENESS PROGRAM
MISSION: To offer information and education to the Yakima community
on the need to provide housing opportunities to all household segments of
our community in an orderly manner.
GOAL: Compile inforrnation on the community housing need.
GOAL: Compile inforrnation on the relationship to problems and
concerns that are a result of or related to negative housing
impacts.
GOAL: Develop education awareness community wide ori how
negative housing affects the area at large.
GOAL: Develop positive alternatives that would provide a mediation
between established neighborhoods and new developments.
GOAL: Develop a liason relationship to direct and encourage
partnerships between neighborhood residents and investor
developers.
GOAL: Provide resident education that will give any and all families
the freedom of choice to reside in housing where they choose.
