A RESOLUTION continuing trolley bus service fare free.
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Yakima wishes
to use the trolley buses in the downtown and other areas of
the City of Yakima for the purpose of reducing parking and
traffic congestion, improving air quality, encouraging econom-
ic growth and tourism, and enhancing the safety and welfare of
the general population; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to operate the afore-
mentioned buses on a continuing trial basis over fixed down-
town and other area routes without charging fares, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
No fare shall be charged for transit service on the
City's trolley buses while in service on the dates, times, and
routes to be designated by the Public Works Director. Upon
passage of this resolution, the Public Works Director shall
cause to be published in a newspaper of general circulation,
at least one notice declaring the routes of service, the times
and dates of such trolley service and that such service is
fare free. Provided, however, such trolley service shall not
exceed nine months in any calendar year.
Such trolleys shall serve various routes within the
downtown area and other areas of the City of Yakima designated
by the Public Works Director. This resolution does not apply
to any other service which may be offered by the City of
Yakima with its trolley buses outside of the designated areas,
dates, and times mentioned in this resolution.
Except as otherwise provided in this resolution, standard
fares, which have been heretofore declared by this Council,
shall remain in full force and effect on all other transit
service provided by the City of Yakima.

hereby repealed.
