RESOLUTION NO. D 6063
A RESOLUTION authorizing withdrawal of the City of Yakima from,
participation in a proposed Yakima County Public
Transportation Benefit Area.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima is currently included within
the boundaries of a Yakima County Public Transportation Bene-
fit Area (.PTBA) for which. the last day to withdraw from par-
ticipation is March 9, 1992; and
WHEREAS, at the Council's February 27, 1992 meeting,
County Commissioner,Alex Deccio, chair of the Yakima County
Public Transportation Improvement Conference (PTIC), stated
that he would recommend dissolution of the current PTIC pro-
cess at its March 5, 1.992 meeting to allow all participants
(Yakima County and cities and towns within Yakima County) to
further discuss and study the terms and conditions of forma-
tion of a Yakima County PTBA because the City of Yakima and
.the other cities could not reach agreement on the formation of
the County -wide PTBA, by the March 5th deadline; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the, best interest
of the City that further investigation be made into the feasi-
bility of the City's participation in the PTBA, now, there-
fore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City of Yakima .hereby withdraws the City of Yakima
from the,above-described PTBA and the'City Clerk is directed
to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Yakima
County Commissioners prior to March 9, 1992. -
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this day of March,
1992. •
