RESOLUTION NO. D 60 12
A RESOLUTION providing for free public use of the City Transit
System for the week of October 21-26, 1991.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima desires to reduce traffic,
congestion, parking congestion, and air pollution through promotion
of energy efficient, and ecologically sound transportation via mass
transit; and
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it necessary to the
achievement 'of the above -referenced goals to encourage the use of
and attract additional ridership or the City Transit system; and
WHEREAS, the twenty-fifth anniversary of the •provision of
transit service by the City of Yakima presents a unique opportunity
for promoting the use of the City's mass transit system; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the provision
of free bus service the week of October 21-16, 1991 should
encourage new riders to use the City transit system and promote
increased use of the system by existing riders, and
WHEREAS, as the dates for said free service event. were
incorrect on the previously approved Resolution No. D-6003, now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The Public Works Director is hereby authorized and directed to
provide all regularly scheduled fixed route transit service without
fare from midnight October 21 to midnight October 26, 1991.
Resolution No. D-6003 is, herewith rescinded,
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that there be noadjustment of bus
passes purchased for the month of October, 1991. This resolution
does not apply to any other service provided. by the City of Yakima
Transit Division or offered by the City of Yakima.
