A RESOLUTION authorizing the Yakima Air Terminal Board to
apply for a General Purpose Foreign Trade Zone.
WHEREAS, the Yakima Air Terminal is jointly owned by the
City of Yakima and Yakima County; and
WHEREAS, the Yakima Air Terminal Board is appointed and
authorized by the City and County to manage airport affairs;
and
WHEREAS, the Yakima Air Terminal is an established Inter-
national Port of Entry with User Fee Customs Services and
eligible for Foreign Trade Zone designation; and
WHEREAS, the governments of the City of Yakima and Yakima
County support the establishment of a General Purpose Foreign
Trade Zone within the air terminal boundaries; and
WHEREAS, the City and County agree that beyond the air
terminal boundaries in matters concerning the Foreign Trade
Zone or otherwise the City and County will continue to recog-
nize their respective jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the City and County recognize that the Air
Terminal Board will request joint funding support from 'the
City and County for Foreign Trade Zone and related User Fee
Customs Services, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The Yakima City Council hereby authorizes the Yakima Air
Terminal Board to apply for and serve as grantee to a General
Purpose Foreign Trade Zone, to be located within the bound-
aries of the Yakima Air Terminal.

Attached for your review is a draft resolution in the matter
of authorizing the Yakima Air Terminal to apply for Foreign Trade
Zone designation. The same draft has been given to the County
Commissioners. If there are changes to the draft please call the
County and coordinate the rewording. After they have adopted it
the County will send a copy to the city requesting your concur-
rence.
Please call if you have any questions, or if you think a
different process is more appropriate.
