A RESOLUTION supporting the State Capital budget appropriation that makes funds
available for industrial park development in Yakima County
WHEREAS, the Yakima County Development Association was created as a community
based organization to strengthen and diversify Yakima County's economic base,
WHEREAS, the Association has provided assistance to out -of -the -area companies that
have invested over $50 million in new facilities and created hundreds of jobs,
WHEREAS, the availability of ready -to -build industrial property continues to be a
vital asset that companies look for when exploring expansion or relocation alternatives,
WHEREAS, Yakima County currently has little if any ready -to -build industrial
property that is comparable and competitive with other industrial park sites in Washington's
urban areas,
WHEREAS, this deficiency is a critical issue that must be resolved so Yakima County
can continue to diversify and expand its industrial base,
WHEREAS, putting industrial lands in a nationally competitive ready -to -build position
will benefit the entire Yakima County regional economy, and
WHEREAS, this community has made a unified effort over the past two years to
earmark state funds for industrial property development, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA
The Yakima City supports the State Capital budget appropriation that makes funds
available for industrial park development in Yakima.
