A RESOLUTION authorizing the letting of contracts for certain
public works for water pollution facilities at
the Miller Park Pool without calling for bids.
WHEREAS, the City of Yakima owns and operates the Miller
Park Swimming Pool which is used by members of the public
during the summer months for public swimming; and
WHEREAS, the water filtration and chlorination system at
said pool has deteriorated to such a state that it fails to
remove waterborne pollutants from the pool water requiring
such water to be wasted into the City's sewer; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to perform public work
at the Miller Park Pool which will consist of purchase and
installation of a new pump, filter, and chlorinator, and
necessary associated building improvements for such equipment
for the purpose of purifying the water at the Miller Park
Pool; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and declares that pursu-
ant to RCW 70.95A.020 and 70.95A.090, the aforementioned
public works improvements at the Miller Park Swimming Pool are
made for the sole purpose of eliminating and abating water
pollution at the Miller Park Swimming Pool so as to protect
the health, safety, and welfare of swimming pool users and to
prevent the unnecessary waste of pool water into the City
sewer, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
execute public works contract(s) for the purchase and instal-
lation of a new pump, water filtration system, and chlorina-
tor, and all necessary associated building improvements for
such installations without calling for bids. Provided, that

the total cost of such public work shall not exceed
410 $80,000.00.
