SUM -91032 CITY OF YAKIMA, WASHINGTON Planning Division MEMORANDUM To: Glenn K. Rice, Director From: Larry Lehman, Associate Planner Date: May 16, 1991 Subject: St. Elizabeth Development Proposals As requested, this memo outlines the current application for review of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center. St. Elizabeth Medical Center has submitted an application for review of a proposed two-story 30,500 sq. ft. medical office building. The site for this building is in the vicinity of the northwest comer of South 11th Avenue and Walnut Avenue. To complete this project as proposed they are requesting that the north -south alley located between Walnut & Chestnut and bounded by 10th & 11th Avenues be vacated. The medical office building is to be constructed over the vacated right-of-way, if approved. The property is zoned B-1 (Professional Business). This project also calls for expansion of two parking facilities to serve parking needs. This proposal does not call for access to or vacation of South 10th Avenue. It is my understanding that there are expansion plans for the hospital itself that may call for the vacation of 10th Avenue between Chestnut and Walnut, but no such proposals are being presented or considered by this office at this time. On May 21, 1991, the City Council will be considering a Resolution to set the date of June 19, 1991, for the public hearing before the Hearing Examiner on the right-of-way petition. The Class (3) application for construction of the hospital related medical office building and parking facilities will be considered at that same hearing. The Hearing Examiner's recommendation on the right-of-way petition will be forwarded to City Council for their consideration during a public meeting.
