RESOLUTION NOD 5 8 7 0
A RESOLUTION authorizing the purchase of four transit trolleys
without calling for bids.
wHEREAS, the City of Yakima desires to purchase four
transit trolley vehicles for shuttle service which are de-
signed in a trolley motif, weigh in excess of 18,000 pounds,
and have a capacity for 32 seated passengers; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 1.80 of the City of Yakima Municipal
Code requires the use of a public bid process for the purchase
of individual units of equipment which exceed $25,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the individual unit price of the trolley vehi-
cles involved here will exceed $25,000.00; and
WHEREAS, diligent research by the members of the City's
Public Works Department reveals that there is but a sole
source for the purchase of the aforementioned transit trolleys
which is the Specialty Vehicle Manufacturing Corporation of
Downey, California; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the aforementioned
specifications are rationally related to public need and that
no \alid legal purpose would be served by advertising for bids
for the aforementioned vehicles, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TBE CITY OF YAKIMA:
The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to
purchase four Deluxe Transit Trolleys, Model No. 3000, from
the Speciality Vehicle Manufacturing Corporation of Downey,
California together with necessary options for a unit price
not to exceed $125,000.00 per unit.
ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this �day of February,
1991.
