WHEREAS, the City of Yakima operates a Parks and Recreation Division; and WHEREAS, Yakima County wishes to encourage the offering of public recreational programs to disabled youth; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City to execute the attached and incorporated agreement, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF YAKIMA: The City Manager and the City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute the attached and incorporated "Agreement between the "pry of Yakima and Yakima County for a Recreational Program for Disabled Youth." ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this ATTEST: iee-eLeA.t4, • • City Clerk COUNCIL\PARKS.8 „ .04- day of Mayor AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF YAKIMA AND YAKIMA COUNTY FOR A RECREATIONAL PROGRAM FOR DISABLED YOUTH This agreement is entered into by and between the City of Yakima, hereinafter called "the City" and Yakima County, hereinafter called "the Grantor". The parties mutually agree as follows: 1. The City is capable of providing recreation programs for youth with disabilities. The Grantor wishes to contract with the City to provide a summer time recreation program for youth with disabilities, hereinafter called "program". Said program shall be open for all disabled youth between the ages of five and thirteen years. Enrollment in the program shall be limited to twenty (20) children per session. 2. The program site shall be at Martin Luther King Elementary School or other suitable site. 3. The program shall consist of two sessions: Session #1 shall start June 25, 1990 and end July 20, 1990. Session #2 shall start July 23, 1990 and end August 18, 1990. 4. The program shall consist of two components: A. Daytime youth activities which include but are not limited to: arts, crafts, dramatics, music, outdoor adventures, special activities, and organized games. The purpose of the program is to provide wholesome leisure activities for disabled youth. This component shall operate two days per week from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm during the above mentioned program dates. These shall be open to all developmentally disabled individuals and their families. B. Special events which include but are not limited to: a swimming party, a family picnic, a field trip, and a theme special event. The Special events allow families to participate with their child in a fun -fulled activity and allows parents to net- work together. Special events will be offered two times during each session of the above mentioned dates. These shall be open to all developmentally disabled individuals and their families. 5. The City shall be responsible for the total planning and implementation of the program, including staffing, equipment, supplies and promotion. 6. The City shall promote the program and include, in all promotional material and information, the statement "Funds for this program are provided by a grant from Yakima County Community Services." 7. At the conclusion of the program, but not later than September 30, 1990, the City shall bill the Yakima County Community Services Director for the cost of the aforementioned services not to exceed five -thousand two -hundred eighty-seven dollars ($5,287). 8. The Grantor shall pay the City within 30 days of receiving the aforementioned bill. All payments shall be sent to the City of Yakima, Director of Finance and Budget, 129 N. 2nd Street, Yakima, WA 98901. COUNCILIPARK.8 9. At the conclusion of the program, but no later than September 30, 1990, the City shall provide a written program report and evaluati to the Grantor which shall, at a minimum, contain attendance figui per day, an analysis of program activities and an overall program evaluation including recommendation for future programs_ 10. The term of this agreement shall be from June 1, 1990 to October 1, 1990.
